BAK and Southern Connections - An O2 Franchise

We are an independent franchise of O2 operating 18 stores across Yorkshire, the North East and the South of England, making us one of the largest O2 franchise in the UK. We pride ourselves on offering all our customers expert advice and a friendly service. Our staff work hard to match both consumers and businesses with communication solutions which perfectly meet their needs.

In addition to our 18 retail stores, we also operate a Business Centre, dedicated to ensuring that our business customers have the right telecommunications solution for their company. We work with companies of all sizes, providing them with specialist support, products and services which enable them to thrive and grow.

At BAK & Southern Connections we are passionate about staying connected with the communities that we are based in. We believe that we have a wider responsibility as a company to give back to the local communities, which we do by supporting charities and community initiatives. Find out more about our current involvement in the community below.

Project 65

We are delighted to be supporting the Hartlepool Independent Living Centre in association with the Hartlepool Borough Council, on community projects, Project 65 and Ricochet, which aim to break the social isolation through the use of technology.

Local residents aged 65+ and anyone over the age of 18 with a disability can rent a tablet and Wi-Fi hotspot to enable them to remain socially included and get on with day to day tasks. As part of the schemes, we offer monthly tech workshops as well as accessibility advice.

For more information on the project visit the Hartlepool Independent Living Centre website.

Selby & District Foodbank

Trussell Trust is devoted to helping individuals living in poverty within the UK  by supplying emergency food and support to families in crisis.

Our partnership started with the Selby foodbank in 2016 with the donation of mobile phone top ups ahead of the Christmas period. This has since progressed to the regular donations of food hampers collected in store and O2 Guru Danny working with the charity on external community projects.

We have sinse started working with both York and Bournemouth'sTrussell Trusts and hope to expand this further through 2017.

Based in Hampshire, independent charity Open Sight provides a lifetime of support to those with or at risk of losing their sight.

We have partnered up with Open Sight offering tech accessibility events in local community venues around Hampshire, to help people with sight loss make the most out of their devices and gain confidence when using technology.

For more information on Open Sight and the services that they offer, visit the website.

Selby District Vision

Selby District Vision is a local charity committed to helping people experiencing sight loss, within the Selby District.

Our O2 Selby resident Guru, Danny Howden, has teamed up with the charity to offer six month long tech courses to help the local Selby residents gain confidence on their phones and tablets.

Focused on Apple devices, Danny and the Selby District team go through a range of accessibility options including in built settings and downloadable apps to help make the users life easier.

For more information on the Selby District Vision, have a look at the website.

HERIB is a UK registered charity which provides support for people with sight loss in the Hull and the East Riding. Their vision is that no-one should have to face sight loss alone and every visually impaired person can enjoy the same opportunities and quality of life as those who are fully sighted.

Having a store on St Andrew’s Quay with resident OS Guru Jack Blackmore, we decided to offer out tech expertise to the charity, regularly attending coffee mornings, running on-on-one appointments with people that need help with their devices and tech accessibility workshops for the masses.

For more information on HERIB have a look at the website.

York Blind and Partially Sighted Society is a thriving, independent local charity within York, working to help people with sight problems to be independent.

We have partnered with the charity to offer tech accessibility help, offering free workshops on a regular basis and booking one–on–one appointments with anyone that may need them.

For more information on the charity, visit the YBPSS website.

West Yorkshire Cyber Crime Officers

West Yorkshire Cyber Crime Officers

The Bradford District Cyber Crime Officers are a team of six police offers dedicated to spreading awareness on the online dangers of cyber crime.

Our recent partnership with the team involves Bradford based Guru, Tom Sokulski visiting schools alongside the cyber officers, helping them educate parents with online safety sessions.

Let's Keep Kids Safe Online

As an O2 franchise, we work towards spreading awarness on the O2 and NSPCC campaign; Let's Keep Kids Safe Online. Our aim is to help parents see the internet as their children do, a world that's creative, fun and excited, whilst understanding the dangers that exist online.

Our Gurus make it a priority to visit local libraries and community centres on a monthly basis to give parents further information on this and advise parents on device security settings.

Think Big

As an O2 franchise we make it a priority to support O2 programs and charities, including the Think Big scheme in which our Guru's help young people aged between 16-25 develop community projects and qualify for funding to carry these out.
